A Little More About Your Role…
As a Primary Design Engineer within the UK Energy business, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver power transmission infrastructure supporting the UK's Net Zero goals. WSP has a significant workload, offering opportunities to develop yourself and others, with over 20 substations to design.

* Design comprehensive solutions for Grid and Primary substations.
* Prepare technical specifications and electrical designs for substations from 132kV to 400kV.
* Create feasibility reports, layouts, GA’s, and specify equipment like transformers, switchgear, and batteries.
* Review designs to ensure compliance with standards and legislation.
* Ensure project delivery aligns with contracts and client expectations.
* Undertake roles of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for HV and EHV projects.
* Manage health and safety risks throughout the project lifecycle.
* Attend site meetings to support design or requirement changes during construction.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
* Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience with substation projects, including design and reinforcement.
* Proven experience in HV and EHV substation design (AIS & GIS) from 132kV to 400kV.
* Knowledge of standards and policies for HV/EHV plant, including earthing and clearances.
* Exposure to cable design, protection, and control systems.
* Understanding of H&S and CDM requirements, with ability to undertake Designer and Principal Designer roles.
* Preferably, working towards Chartered Engineer status.
* Preferred: National Grid BP141 HV Plant Authorization.
