Plant Machinery Mechanic Apprentice (Level 2) – UK. Role: Plant Mechanic Apprentice (Level 2) – UK. Start date: September 2026.
This apprenticeship is based at one of Murphy’s Plant depots in Ollerton, Golborne, Cannock or Hemel Hempstead. Block release apprenticeship study takes place at CITB’s National Construction College (NCC) at Bircham Newton, King’s Lynn.

Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship Programme
Day-to-day duties will include:
* Attending team safety briefings.
* Working with mentors to repair and maintain all types of plant and equipment.
* Completing point-of-work risk assessments and job card information electronically using tablets.
* Ordering and fitting parts to plant equipment and carrying out basic routine maintenance.
* Using diagnostic equipment to diagnose and rectify faults on plant and equipment.
* Maintaining good housekeeping in the workshop area.
* Using and storing COSHH substances safely.
* Completing all college coursework and online assessment requirements.
This apprenticeship covers the basic principles to learn to become a plant mechanic, including servicing and repairing machines and equipment, replacing parts, and calibrating instruments, with studies from basic engineering to electro-hydraulics and computerised control systems.
Qualifications
Qualification: Construction Equipment Maintenance Mechanic Level 2 apprenticeship standard (3 years). End of programme: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Maintenance.

Placement
The role will be based at one of Murphy’s Plant depots (Ollerton, Golborne, Cannock or Hemel Hempstead).
