Merseyside Leaving Care - Outreach Support Worker
Leaving care support workers offer support to some of the most vulnerable young people in society. Bedspace outreach team support the transition from the care system to independence within community outreach settings.
We ensure all our young people have the tools they need to live independently and become a positive part of society. We do this through our work with the ASDAN resettlement training system which is embedded into the work we carry out with our Young People.
Bedspace utilises a relationship-based approach to our support delivery to work through traumatic events that the Young Person may have experienced. Bedspace has a unique approach to service delivery and support that takes a holistic view of delivering support.
We follow a person-centred approach to support delivery.
You will be based from our Liverpool office but will cover the Merseyside area. Due to the areas this role covers, a car driver with a vehicle and business insurance is essential.
About you:
You will have a genuine passion for this sector, looking to make a difference with our service users and will be looking for a challenging but rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working across the Merseyside region, Managing a caseload of Service Users, helping to build independent living skills.
* Liaising with relevant professionals such as Social Workers, Healthcare practitioners, DWP, and the Police.
* Writing detailed reports which assess a service user's independent living skills.
* Completely weekly inspections of Service User's properties.
* Support with accessing and maintaining education/employment.
* Promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, de-escalating challenging situations when they arise.
* Signposting to appropriate services as required, including mental health, drug rehabilitation services, counselling and education.
Essential Skills:
* Previous experience working with Young Vulnerable Adults 16+
* Travel is essential so must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use
* Thorough knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children
* Have or be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification
* Computer literate
* Good interpersonal skills
* Conflict Resolution Skills
* An understanding of working with Multi Agencies
