About the role
As our Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance operations, financial compliance, and strategic financial reporting. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving a robust financial framework suitable for a scaling startup, with a strong focus on compliance and financial operational efficiency.
What you’ll be doing 📈
Financial Operations & Reporting
* Financial Reporting and Analysis: Lead the production of timely and accurate financial reports, including cash flow forecasting and management accounts, providing critical insights to the leadership team.
* Accounting Review: Oversee and conduct reviews of the general ledger and financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Financial Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis to support business decisions, operational efficiency, and strategic planning.
* Team Performance Management: Participate in the management and development of the finance team's performance.
Compliance & Control
* Group Compliance & Control: Ensure the company adheres to all relevant financial regulations, policies, and internal controls, particularly within the UK regulatory environment.
* Group tax management: Tax planning and control across all group companies.
* Insurance Management: Manage and maintain all business insurances.
Treasury & Intercompany
* Intercompany: Tracking and maintaining timely transfers to group entities
* Cash balances and credit control: Maintaining and ensuring the company has sufficient cash to meet operational needs. Maintain a high quality credit control process.
Technology & Process Improvement
* Finance Tech Stack: Take ownership of the Finance tech stack and improvements (e.g., payments, accounting software) to drive automation and scalability.

* UK Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and practical experience navigating UK tax (e.g., VAT, Corporation Tax) and compliance requirements.
* Start-up/Scale-up Experience: Proven track record working in a high-growth startup environment, demonstrating adaptability, hands-on ability, and a willingness to build processes from the ground up.
* System Implementation: Experience in selecting, implementing, or optimising accounting systems and finance technology to support a scaling business model.
* Global Exposure (Desirable): Experience with international entities or multi-currency transactions is a strong plus.
* Language: Additional languages desirable
* Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
