Location: East Lancashire – Clitheroe, Burnley, Haslingden, Padiham.
Our Children’s Residential Service is expanding with the introduction of new Children’s Homes, and changes to existing homes across the County. This means that we have a number of exciting opportunities for passionate, dedicated individuals to join us as Residential Child Care Workers at homes in Clitheroe, Burnley, Haslingden and Padiham.
As a Residential Child Care Worker, you will work from a children's home where children and young people aged 11 to 17 live. You will eat and sleep at the home with the children, undertake basic household tasks – cleaning, cooking, shopping, and supervise and support the children in all aspects of their development. You will listen and engage with children in one‑to‑one work around feelings, emotions and behaviours, and liaise with other professionals such as social workers, schools, police and health workers to meet their needs.
Please note: This role will involve working on a rota basis, with a mix of days, evenings, weekends and sleep‑in shifts.
What our children want from you:
* “Someone like me who has time to listen instead of being behind a locked door.”
* “Someone who listens to me but also takes action and who I can have a laugh with – they also need to be able to make nice food.”
* “Someone who spends time with me.”
We have an ambitious, confident, and motivated management team who are experienced, supportive, and keen to help you learn and grow. We have over 50 free courses for you to learn new things and even provide funded qualifications up to degree level, if this interests you. A detailed induction programme covers all elements of the role, giving you the tools and knowledge to get started. For all permanent staff, we provide monthly 1:1 reflective space with managers, a comprehensive Employee Support Offer, and plenty of opportunities to network with other professionals who support children. Benefits include access to the Blues and Twos Credit Union, membership of a Blue Light Card and various discounts at local retailers.
What we are looking for:
* Passion: Thinking creatively to ensure that our children are supported to achieve their aspirations (no matter how big or small). We look for passionate practitioners, regardless of experience.
* Challenge: Able to work through tough days while being a team player who goes the extra mile for our children.
* Forward thinking: Someone who can join us on an expanding service with big ideas and can help shape the service’s future.
* Values: Supportive, innovative, respectful and collaborative; aligned with the service’s core values.
