Job Overview
This is a full‑time appointment as a Consultant in Orthopaedics with a special interest in lower limb revision surgery for the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. It will be a replacement post. The appointee will be on the new consultant contract with a basic commitment of 10 PAs with a 1:14 on‑call general orthopaedic trauma rota. Applicants who are unable to work full time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for the post; any such appointment will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. Successful candidates will be encouraged to continue developing their sub‑specialty interest, contributing to the trauma rota and to the general work of the department, including a strong teaching commitment, clinical management and effective team working.
You will be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and ideally have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Orthopaedic Surgery or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.
Responsibilities
* Provide a sub‑speciality lower limb orthopaedic service to complement the interests of the other consultants and in keeping with the strategic direction of the Trust; cover elective orthopaedic clinics in Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.
* Take part in a consultant on‑call rota for emergency duties and to provide prospective emergency cover for colleagues during periods.
* Carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the postgraduate medical education programme, including teaching junior doctors, nursing staff, advanced care practitioners, GPs and other clinical professionals.
* Be responsible for patients in his / her care.
* Take part in departmental regional and national audit programmes (there is a designated monthly audit programme).
* Be involved in research, where appropriate.
* Participate in the management of the trauma and orthopaedic service, supporting team working especially in the management of trauma.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
