Live In Housekeeper for Peaceful Rural Estate in Rye, East Sussex 106 Location: Rye, East Sussex Start Date: ASAP Accommodation: Cottage on the estate grounds Salary: Up to £50,000 gross per annum About the Family This is a fantastic opportunity to join a warm and welcoming family who treat their East Sussex estate as a much-loved second home. While they are not in residence full-time, their visits are social and full of energy. The house becomes a hub for extended family and friends, so they’re looking for someone who enjoys the rhythm of a busy household, can stay calm under pressure, and takes pride in creating a welcoming and well-run environment behind the scenes. They’re seeking a long-term, dependable housekeeper who can care for the property year-round, someone who understands the ebb and flow of a seasonal household and will keep everything running smoothly whether the family is in or away. You’ll be trusted to manage the housekeeping to a high standard, ensure the home is always guest-ready, and take the lead in preparing for arrivals with attention to the little details that make all the difference. Role Responsibilities You’ll be responsible for the full upkeep and housekeeping of the main 10-bedroom house and the guest house on the estate. This includes daily and deep cleaning, maintaining household inventories, preparing the home ahead of family visits, managing the laundry and wardrobe (including packing and unpacking), and keeping the pantry and fridge well-stocked. Assisting with meal prep and cooking would be a real plus, though it’s not essential. The role also involves occasional driving duties, such as airport pick-ups, and also once-a-month visits to the family's London property to ensure it's kept in good order. There may also be opportunities to travel abroad with the family, including to Switzerland during the ski season to carry out your housekeeping duties there. Ideal Candidate: Experienced, professional housekeeper confident working in large private homes Excellent attention to detail with a proactive and self-sufficient approach Confident driver with a full UK licence and own vehicle If you’re an experienced housekeeper looking for a full-time live-in role in a peaceful rural setting, we’d love to hear from you!
