Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and flexible Medicines Manager to join our busy Practice. Our practice requires a highly organised and motivated individual to provide comprehensive medication administration services to support the patients and Practice. Applicants should have excellent customer service, organisational and computer skills as well as the ability to multitask and work under pressure at peak times. Applicants should have previous experience in pharmacy and or medicines management. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience of the EMIS Web computer system would be an advantage, although full training will be provided to the successful candidate. Main Duties And Responsibilities
* To process repeat medication requests sent in by patients using the various protocols in place.
* To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant clinician.
* To work as part of the team providing support to the Practice to address areas within the current practice prescribing action plan.
* To improve the quality of repeat medication records by house‑keeping to align quantities, discontinue medication no longer needed and identify potential clinical issues to highlight to the pharmacist or GP.
* To develop effective working relationships with relevant community pharmacists and build relationships with the Wirral Medicines Management Team.
* To help the practice achieve prescribing targets within the current prescribing Incentive scheme.
* To co‑ordinate medication reviews, develop an effective recall system and attend ICB coordinated training events when made available.
* To effectively liaise with nursing and residential care homes.
* To develop, implement and co‑ordinate repeat dispensing (where applicable).
* To develop excellent skills in working with GP computer systems to generate reports and implement changes.
* To develop written materials such as repeat prescribing protocols, patient information leaflets and practice information charts.
* To plan and implement innovative approaches to reduce medicines waste.

About Us
St Georges Medical Centre is a busy Practice with a population size of 9500 patients.
We have a large clinical team of 5 GP partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare assistant and 1 phlebotomist. We are also a training Practice and currently have 5 GP trainees and medical students.
St Georges runs a dedicated community Ophthalmology clinic on site and hosts a number of community services, such as diabetes, podiatry, orthotics and minor surgery.
