Main duties of the job
1. Implement Trust and local policies and contribute to any proposed changes to Midwifery working practices or procedures.
2. Support the Trust Clinical Governance policy and participate in clinical benchmarking, audit and research to support excellence in midwifery care.
3. Apply reflective practice and self-audit to evaluate and improve own clinical practice.
4. Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle, advising and arranging support for women as required.
5. Work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team with a good understanding of the various roles to ensure appropriate referrals are made.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
6. Registered Midwife (NMC)
7. Educated to degree level in relevant subject area
8. Examination of the Newborn (NIPE)
Desirable criteria
9. Assessor/mentorship course or full SSSA equivalent
10. FRSH competency implant insertion
11. Evidence of recent CPD
Experience
Essential criteria
12. Completed preceptorship
13. Mentorship experience as Practice supervisor/ Assessor
14. Experience with Neonatal IV administration and transitional care
15. 1 year post registration clinical experience working as an RM in the UK
Desirable criteria
16. Experience with BSOT system
17. Experience in conducting audits
18. Involvement in quality improvement projects
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
19. Able to demonstrate a working knowledge in standard setting and quality management.
20. IT skills including MS office, Excel and PowerPoint
21. Able to manage difficult situations effectively
22. Understanding and knowledge in delivering transitional care
Desirable criteria
23. Experienced as take charge or shift lead
24. Management of complaints/ Compliments
25. Ability to demonstrate evidence of line management of non registrant staff i.e. MSWs
