Come and work with us at the Ash Eton Therapeutic Community (TC) in Folkestone. We have an exciting opportunity for a professionally registered and experienced Psychotherapist or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join us.
As an analytically trained clinician with experience in conducting therapeutic groups for adults with complex emotional needs, and either experience of working within or lived experience of being a member of a therapeutic community, or using a trauma-informed group therapy model, you will be well-suited for this role.
Ash Eton TC is an established therapeutic community, a full member of the Community of Communities quality improvement and accreditation programme at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. We are engaged in peer reviews of other TCs nationwide, and are members of The Consortium of Therapeutic Communities (TCTC), regularly presenting at conferences. We are continually developing our practice, including Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT), and expanding our therapies to include drama therapy, art psychotherapy, and occupational therapy.
Your responsibilities will include advising on referrals, supervision, and case consultations. You will provide assessment and outpatient psychodynamic psychotherapy groups during the initial treatment phase before service users join the main TC programme. Additionally, you will co-facilitate small group psychotherapy within the TC and participate in community meetings. There will also be opportunities to develop co-produced lecturing and training roles.
We seek someone committed to an analytic framework within a democratic TC, upholding our relational practice values, including co-production and inclusivity. You should be capable of working with transference processes in this demanding environment and able to remain reflective to process complex team and community dynamics.
You will manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, including those presenting significant risk. Organizational skills to plan workloads and maintain quality standards are essential. Experience deputising for team or clinical leads and supporting operational management is also required.
You will work within a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities for creative work. The Trust also has a second therapeutic community in Maidstone, offering opportunities for shared learning and service development. Ongoing supervision, staff process groups, and professional development support are provided.
