Purpose of the role
To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them.
Accountabilities
* Ensure availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
* Respond to system outages and disruptions, analyse issues, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
* Develop tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
* Monitor and optimise system performance and resource usage, identify bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
* Collaborate with development teams to incorporate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle.
* Stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to the organization's technology communities.
* Advise on decision making, contribute to policy development, and collaborate with other functions/business divisions.
* Lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives, coach employees, and appraise performance.
* Demonstrate leadership behaviors to create an environment for colleagues to thrive, including listening, inspiring, aligning, and developing others.
* Guide team members through structured assignments, identify new directions, and involve other areas of specialisation as needed.
* Consult on complex issues, support escalation resolution, and develop policies to mitigate risk and strengthen controls.

* Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Elastic, Geneos ITRS, and Grafana.
* Ability to understand relevant technologies and investigate logs to identify issues.
