Job Title: CNC Programmer & Operator Location: Manchester, UK Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 Start Date: Immediate start available Overview A rapidly expanding production specialist in the live events and fabrication industry is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer & Operator to join their growing technical team. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Manchester, ideal for someone with hands-on CNC experience in a workshop environment—particularly within scenic construction, manufacturing, joinery, or set-building. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming and operating CNC routers, preparing materials, maintaining machinery, and ensuring accurate output for a variety of bespoke projects. Key Responsibilities Program and operate CNC routers to manufacture scenic, staging, and custom components Read and interpret CAD drawings to generate accurate toolpaths using CAM software Perform routine machine setup, maintenance, and calibration Handle materials, including plywood, MDF, plastics, and composite panels Finish CNC components to a high standard, ready for assembly Maintain the organisation and inventory of CNC tools and supplies Assist in the integration of CNC-fabricated parts into wider scenic builds Conduct quality checks to ensure consistent output and performance Support with stock management and material storage related to CNC production Collaborate with other departments to meet project demands and deadlines Adhere to all health & safety standards and protocols Provide support to other production areas when needed Candidate Requirements Demonstrated experience in CNC programming and operation (ideally 3-axis routers) Proficient in CAM software such as Fusion 360 or VCarve Familiarity with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD or Vectorworks is a plus Strong understanding of a wide range of materials and fabrication techniques Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency Excellent time management and the ability to meet tight deadlines Strong team player with the ability to work independently when needed Clear communicator with a positive, problem-solving mindset Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and schedules Full UK driving licence and own transport desirable Working Hours Monday to Friday: 08:30 – 17:30 Some flexibility may be required depending on project timelines.
