Quality Assurance and Testing is an important part of the delivery of digital systems within the Health Research Authority. We have a skilled team of test professionals who ensure high quality by automating as much of the test effort as possible. This role will add advanced automation engineering skills to support that mission.
Responsibilities
* Identify new and implement existing test automation frameworks.
* Develop and enhance automation frameworks using Playwright (TypeScript) to ensure scalable, fast, and continuous tests.
* Perform manual testing where automation is not suitable.
* Work on functional and non‑functional areas of complex systems built with multiple technologies (Microsoft, PEGA, .NET, SQL, microservices).
* Identify and raise awareness of defects, issues, and risks from automation test results.
* Lead on change impact assessment of all changes to mitigate risk to external stakeholders.
* Work closely with members of the Agile team and senior test analysts to ensure business scenarios are covered.
* Carry out system, integration, and user acceptance testing using manual and automated techniques.
* Manage own work within agreed timelines.
Qualifications & Experience
* Master’s level education or equivalent in IS/IT or related field.
* Certified ISTQB Foundation & ISTQB Technical Test Analyst.
* Experience as an automated test engineer delivering successful outcomes.
* Practical experience testing on .NET, SQL and microservices architecture (on‑premises and cloud).
* Comprehensive knowledge of testing techniques and code version management tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
* Excellent analytical, organisational, and prioritisation skills in a changing environment.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, able to summarise complex issues and articulate procedural matters.
