Bridges & Structures Manager
* Hourly Rate: £50 to £60 via umbrella
* Location: Rotherham Borough (travel required)
* Job Type: Contract
Join our team as a Bridges & Structures Manager, where you will lead the management of the Council’s highway structures, such as bridges and retaining walls. This role is crucial in ensuring these structures are safe, well-maintained, and continuously improved through various projects. You will also provide expert technical advice, manage budgets, and oversee inspections and project delivery.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Manage and maintain highway structures across the borough.
* Lead and supervise projects ranging from small repairs to multi-million-pound improvements.
* Oversee safety inspections and ensure compliance with national safety standards.
* Prepare and review technical documents, cost estimates, and reports for structural projects.
* Serve as project manager and/or principal designer under CDM regulations.
* Lead and support a team, including responsibility for training and performance management.
* Represent the service in professional meetings and partnerships.
* Monitor project budgets and ensure value for money in all operations.
* Address customer complaints and maintain high service standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) via ICE or IStructE.
* Level 7 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Postgraduate Diploma) or equivalent experience.
* Strong knowledge of highway infrastructure, safety, and engineering standards (e.g., DMRB, CDM).
* Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects and teams.
* Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, GIS, etc.
* Understanding of council policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
* Excellent communication, decision-making, and report-writing skills.
* Leadership and team management capabilities.
* Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and agencies.
