This is an established post - Specialty Doctor in Community Psychiatry, Based at Hanson Corner Middleton.
Main duties of the job
Duties will consist of providing assessments and management of new referrals and follow-up for patients under CMHT.
There will be a contribution to be made in terms of leadership and support of development of the service. The community Consultant based at Hanson Corner Dr Deji Odelola will be responsible medical officer for patients. Cross cover for periods of leave/study will be picked up by the other 2 Resident doctors attached to the team.
Alongside the specialty doctor there is one senior resident doctor (ST4-6) and one Core resident doctor.
The team workload is 139 and the average number of referrals per months is 5-7. Speciality doctor will be expected to build up their own case load and will be supported to work independently with access to supervision and regular input by Multidisciplinary team. The job is an excellent opportunity to develop competency in working with patients with complex needs managed under CTO provision.

Rochdale hosts a thriving training and research environment. The total complement of Consultants in Rochdale is now 15 WTE (7 Working-Age; 4 Old Age( two full time and 2 part time ) 2 CAMHS; 1 Learning Disability, 1 Early Intervention)
The current model in Working Age is based on an inpatient/outpatient model. There are 3 Community Consultants (3 sectors), each covering outpatients only, and 2 Inpatient Consultants with a Full-time consultant cover for the EIT, full time consultant covering HTT/Access team .

Person specification
Education/Qualification
 * MBBS or equivalent
 * Section 12 approval or willingness to seek approval
 * MRCPsych or equivalent MSc
 * Registered as completed Higher Training with the Royal College of Psychiatrists
 * Progress towards additional Post Graduate Degree, such as Msc or MD
 * Good Interpersonal and team working skills
 * Knowledge of relevant requirements and legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Care Programme Approach etc
 * An additional area of relevant special interest
 * Actively involved in continuing professional development
Experience
 * A minimum of 4 years in Psychiatry at CT, ST or Staff Grade level at least 2 years of these should be in general adult psychiatry
 * Experience relevant to modern community orientated adult psychiatry.
 * Experience of teaching and training
 * Experience of management.
 * Experience of service development and planning.
 * Experience of Forensic or Intensive Care services
 * Worked for a total of 10years since primary qualification (which is acceptable by GMC for full/limited or temporary registration)
