What is the role
To develop and build an offer in your given area that meets the needs, desires and specifications of the customer within the relevant brand and in line with the overall brand identity and company ethos. Working in partnership with the buying, merchandising and product support teams to lead the sourcing, purchase and planning of a full and balanced range of product that maximises sales and margin performance.
This is a hands on buying role suitable for a successful experiences Buyer with the skills and experience of product development combined with the ability to lead and develop others.
What you will do
1. Expand and develop the Brand identity that maximises the potential of a given product category
2. Develop and buy a range of products that provides both wardrobe staples and fashion product for our specialist customers, which is appropriate to the market and is in line with current trends
3. Develop and buy a range of product that adapts to maximise trading potential in the market places in which it is planned to trade in
4. Provide direction and support for junior buying team members ensuring targets are identified and met, giving development and mentoring where required
5. Ensure a comprehensive supply base for product range that has the capability and capacity to consistently deliver against current and future growth requirements
6. Conduct effective negotiations with suppliers that provides a commercial proposition whilst maintains production standards and product integrity
7. Conduct continuous market appraisal to both benchmark against and to outperform the competition
8. Continuous evolution of the category offer to ensure it continues to meet customer expectations for newness and variety
9. Working with key stakeholders to define, implement and review the intake and margin strategy for your category
10. Work with product support team to ensure standards of fit and quality are maintained
11. Regularly review customer feedback and use to develop and enhance product offer
12. Define & deliver against the critical path for products, liaising with product support and logistics teams to ensure smooth flow of intake & warehouse volumes can be met
13. Ensure that suppliers conform to our code of ethics and urgently address any potential issues
What you will bring
14. Must have 5+ years demonstrable successful buying experience in ladieswear, preferably with experience of specialist markets
15. Proven track record within fashion product
16. Experience of (and comfortable working within) a Buyer driven business without design team support
17. Team leadership & management experience
18. Expert knowledge of sourcing and key contacts
19. Results driven with sound commercial acumen
20. Strategic thinker with a hands on, action oriented approach
21. Keen negotiator
22. Passion for the brand with a strong understanding of the demands of our customer
23. Highly motivated and a desire to be the best with proven ability to work well as a team
24. Ability to work under pressure and at a fast pace with loyalty and commitment to the business.
