The Role As a Year 4 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum. You will help pupils build independence, resilience, and confidence while developing strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects. You will work closely with teaching assistants and colleagues to ensure learning is inclusive and accessible for all pupils. You will also monitor progress closely, adapt teaching to meet individual needs, and provide targeted support where required. Strong communication with parents and carers will be essential in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 4 curriculum Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours Maintain a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records Provide targeted interventions to support pupil attainment Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding progress Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives Support enrichment activities, school events, and extra-curricular opportunities Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally Year 4 Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing Work effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive team Location The school is located in Barking, with excellent transport links and a vibrant local community.
