Procurement People are partnering with a growing UK infrastructure and civil engineering business following the acquisition of a new regional operation. This is a high-impact, standalone procurement role where you’ll have the autonomy to shape processes, build supplier relationships, and add real commercial value on site.
This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on procurement professional who enjoys ownership, visibility, and working closely with delivery teams.
The Role
As Procurement Specialist, you’ll take responsibility for procurement activity across a busy civil engineering and groundworks operation. Initially, your focus will be on embedding robust procurement processes, before moving into ongoing weekly procurement support for construction materials and services.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and operational teams to ensure the right materials are in the right place at the right time — commercially and operationally.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day procurement purchases for the business area you support
Lead weekly stakeholder meetings to confirm upcoming material and service requirements
Source and procure construction and infrastructure materials, driving cost efficiencies
Negotiate commercial terms and build strong, long-term supplier relationships
Act as the go-to procurement contact for the site
Support and mentor an Assistant Buyer, with future line management responsibility
Help standardise procurement processes and improve ways of working
Produce dashboards and summary reports to highlight key performance metrics and target areas for improvement.

About You
Essential:
Proven experience in construction or infrastructure procurement
Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, SME-style environment
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Confident negotiating and influencing at all levelsDesirable:
CIPS qualification (or working towards)
Experience within utilities, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects
