Has responsibility for managing and maintaining our ROPA and working with the business to ensure that impact assessments are performed and recorded appropriately. You'll also advise the business on contractual data privacy matters, and act as the data privacy subject matter expert within the Legal team, working with experienced and supportive colleagues.
You will also have the opportunity to work across our exciting media business on commercial matters, reaching out to the enthusiastic audiences who engage with our digital, video, audio and print content.
You'll work in our Hammersmith office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which are our 'anchor days'. The successful candidate will work across all five weekdays, working for five hours each day within our usual core hours (9.30am-5.30pm). There may be some occasional travel within the UK, to work with colleagues in Immediate's Bristol, Manchester or Nottingham offices.
As a Data Privacy and Commercial Lawyer you will:
1. Support the DPO in ensuring that Immediate maintains best practice in data privacy matters
2. Advise the business on matters relating to data risk, privacy and protection, including GDPR and PECR compliance
3. Maintain and develop our systems, including ensuring the ROPA is up to date and impact assessments are prepared as needed
4. Work with the business to solve data issues raised by expansion into new jurisdictions
5. Provide in-house training to commercial teams on regulatory and compliance data issues
6. Support and advise on data privacy matters concerning Immediate's consumers
7. Liaise with our parent company's data privacy specialists based in Germany
8. Work with the business and Legal team on drafting and negotiating agreements related to data privacy
9. Contribute to developing best practices around data privacy and establish clear processes and controls for the business
10. Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements and partnerships across the Immediate brands
The role would suit a qualified lawyer with at least 3 years' PQE in a commercial law firm or fast-paced in-house environment. A high-quality training contract or equivalent experience and a track record of academic success are required. Alternative qualifications and experience will be considered.
Required skills include a thorough understanding of data protection law (GDPR and ePrivacy), strong drafting, negotiation, communication, and relationship skills, and a team-oriented attitude. The role offers a salary up to £60,000, part-time (25 hours/week), based in Hammersmith with flexible working options.
