We're looking for a dynamic and dedicated Transport Manager to lead our logistics operations and ensure our transportation teams operate smoothly and efficiently. Our Darlington DC is ready to go live and we are now seeking HR professionals to join our team. Position Summary: The Transport Manager will lead and oversee the daily operations of the transportation department during assigned shifts. This role is responsible for managing a team of drivers and logistics personnel to ensure efficient and safe transport of goods, while maintaining high standards of service and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a focus on problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Key Responsibilities: To promote and uphold a people first culture. To consistently deliver an accuracy level for all customers by managing the credit process. Ensure that staff are trained and competent to carry out tasks assigned to them and manage under performance. Ensure our drivers are ambassadors for the company, and are suitably attired and presentable to both customers and the public. Deputise for the Senior Transport Shift Manager or Transport Operations Manager when requested. Shift preparation planning for future shifts, with reference to forecast/actual volumes, holidays and any long term absence. Evaluate actual journey duration versus plan, and implement improvement. Maintain Time and Attendance information ensuring accuracy and prepare necessary documentation for daily operations meeting Evaluate current VOR position, and make adjustments if required. Communicate any potential issues to both Transport Operations Manager and Customer Service if impacting on store delivery times. Ensure that there is an effective de-briefing process, to capture and record all pertinent information relating to each driver/journey on a daily basis, Act on this information to ensure that improvements are made. Action or plan any disciplinary/grievance issues according to the set time frames. Ensure complete compliance with all transport legislation and the Working Time Directive legislation. Monitor trailer temperature using the Verofresh system and respond to all alerts in a timely fashion. Ensure full KPIs are met Ensure full audit readiness at all times. Inspect the yard on a daily basis and complete a yard inspection once a week. Identify and deal with any issues found. Ensure that vehicle cleanliness is maintained and manage instances where it is not. To work in a multi-temperature food storage environment.
