A Consultant Histopathologist (SHYPS) based at York Hospital, part of the Scarborough Hull York Pathology Service (SHYPS), a clinically led pathology network servicing multiple acute hospital sites across Yorkshire.

Main duties of the job
The department in York Hospital operates a reporting service within a team of highly experienced Consultants. The role involves reporting histopathology cases across the SHYPS network, providing clinical and technical guidance, and supporting a large postgraduate training programme in the region.
Responsibilities also include delivering a 10‑minute presentation at the panel interview, attending a technical specification interview, and implementing digital pathology initiatives in partnership with the National Pathology Imaging Co‑operative (NPIC).
Qualifications – Essential
* FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
* Full and Specialist registration with GDC or GMC, or eligibility within 6 months of interview.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months) or CESR.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Postgraduate thesis.
* Relevant higher degree.
Experience – Essential
* High level of clinical experience and competence in cellular pathology.
* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Participation in regular clinical audit.
