Role Overview

As a Pastoral Support Assistant you’ll help young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) conditions, meet their emotional needs through daily support, assessment and program development.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide high‑standard pastoral care and support for each young person.
* Work closely with families to develop individual care plans.
* Conduct assessments and assist in the planning of positive learning environments.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement strategies that promote well‑being.


Qualifications & Experience

* Experience working with young people with BESD or ASD in a school or care setting.
* Good listener, motivated, capable of working in a team and inspiring young people.
* Organisational skills and flexibility.
* Experience with ASC, ADHD or SEMH pupils and with families in challenging circumstances.
* Experience of multi‑agency working and understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies and guidance.
* NVQ Level 3 in Care or Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred).
