Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Assistant Transport Manager to support our logistics and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will assist in coordinating transportation activities, managing teams, and ensuring the efficient movement of goods. Responsibilities
* Working hours are 6am to 2.30pm. Overtime available when requested by prior agreement
* Assist in planning and coordinating daily transportation schedules to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness
* Support the management of logistics operations, including route planning and delivery schedules
* Supervise transport staff, providing guidance and leadership to ensure high standards of customer service and safety
* Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety regulations
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle logs using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Utilise office software to create documents, monitor stock levels and produce spreadsheets, and reports as required
* Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to facilitate smooth operations
* Answer phone calls professionally, addressing inquiries, inputting orders or directing them to the appropriate personnel.
* Welcome and greeting visitors, receiving deliveries and dealing with customers in person including yard sales
* Assist in managing supply chain activities to ensure timely delivery of goods
Qualifications
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
* A valid driving licence
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
* Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and IT systems relevant to logistics management and order entry
* Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
* Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to motivate team members
* Strong customer service orientation with problem-solving capabilities
* A keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy in all tasks
* Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail
