This role is for a senior infrastructure professional with a manager’s mindset.
You will not be managing a team.
You will be the key holder for the infrastructure estate — the person trusted to own it, protect it, and make the right decisions.
This position suits someone who wants real accountability and ownership, without people-management responsibilities.
The Role
You will operate as the senior, accountable owner of infrastructure, working within a small, trusted technology function supporting a large, operationally complex organisation.
This is a hands-on, generalist infrastructure role with authority and visibility across the business. You will shape standards, manage risk, and ensure the environment is stable, secure, and fit for purpose.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
* Owning the infrastructure estate end to end
* Managing Azure / Microsoft infrastructure, identity, and security
* Supporting network connectivity and SD-WAN initiatives
* Managing the modern workplace via Microsoft Intune
* Acting as the senior escalation point for infrastructure issues
* Improving resilience, documentation, and operational maturity
The service desk function is separate — this role focuses on engineering ownership, not ticket volume.
The Person We’re Looking For
You are:
* A senior infrastructure generalist, not a narrow specialist
* Comfortable being the most accountable technical person in the room
* Calm, decisive, and trusted to make judgement calls
* Looking for long-term ownership, not short-term CV padding
Key experience:
* Endpoint management (Intune or equivalent)
* Confident operating independently
* Fridays remote with early finish
* Salary up to £60,000
* High-trust, low-bureaucracy environment
* Genuine ownership of a business-critical infrastructure estate
Why This Role Appeals
This is a role for someone who wants to run infrastructure properly — with trust, accountability, and autonomy — rather than manage people or chase titles.
