Description Job Description Are you looking for an opportunity to lead and support determinations for National Infrastructure that will support our ambitious net zero targets and associated energy security requirements? The Energy Consents Unit is responsible for the processing of these applications, ensuring they align with the relevant planning and environmental policies and legislation. Reporting to the Head of the Energy Consents Unit, you will lead 3/4 large teams of approximately 11 staff each who are responsible for managing, processing and determining energy infrastructure applications in accordance with applicable legislation. You will work closely with Ministers, developers, planning authorities and environmental bodies to ensure efficient case management, applying your operational knowledge and experience to ensure timely and robust determinations. Responsibilities Leading the participation and engagement with developers, partners including statutory consultees and other areas of internal and external stakeholders including Charing meetings. People management and development of staff within your team and across the Unit. Briefing and advice for senior officials across the Government and Ministers. Leading and directing the management of caseloads and resources to deliver determinations within appropriate timescales. Organisational leadership and contribution to the management of the Unit. Qualifications Success Profile Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on. Technical / Professional Skills: Multi-Level Government - Level 2 Practitioner : Understand devolution in all parts of the UK. Understand the impacts, risks and opportunities of intergovernmental relations, Apply decision making tools to model policy options’ and ‘Work effectively with different levels of government in the UK, including local and regional government. Governance and Project Delivery - Level 2 Practitioner: Plan, monitor, and continuously improve policy delivery. You can find out more about the skills required here Experience: Demonstrated operational knowledge of the energy regulatory environment (in particular The Electricity Act 1989 and application of the Electricity Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017) with a proven track record in analysing data and considering advice from a range of sources to recommend and implement infrastructure planning decisions within legislative frameworks.
