Overview
12 weeks training. The initial weeks involve Monday–Friday work from 09:00 to 17:00.
Responsibilities
* Following a highly regulated end-to-end sterilization/decontamination process on surgical instruments used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals to ensure they can be used safely for the next patient.
* Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
* Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
* Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washers/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners and sterilisers).
* Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
* Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Basic end-user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT systems.
* Whether you have no experience whatsoever or you have previously worked in the healthcare industry, we want to hear from you.
