Production Engineer Location: Hemel Hempstead Salary: £50,000 DOE The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to join an electronics manufacturer as a Production Engineer based in Hemel Hempstead. This is more than just a support role they are looking for a key managerial figure within the SMT department who can bring fresh ideas, take ownership, and help shape the future direction of the team. You'll be encouraged to take initiative, lead from the front, and represent the business in client meetings, offering technical advice and building strong, solution-oriented relationships. Key Responsibilities as a Production Engineer: Lead and support daily SMT production activities, including process setup, optimisation, and troubleshooting. Work closely with SMT equipment, programming, and preventative maintenance schedules. Take initiative on process improvements and drive continuous improvement strategies across the department. Represent the SMT department in internal reviews and external client meetings advising on technical requirements and solutions. Collaborate with engineering and NPI teams on product introductions and design-for-manufacture. Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 quality standards and support quality and inventory control efforts. Promote and contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.Essential Skills & Experience for Production Engineer: Strong background in SMT/PCBA production and engineering support. Skilled in SMT setup, programming, AOI, and rework processes. Proficient communicator, comfortable interacting with clients and internal stakeholders alike. Familiarity with IPC standards; certification preferred. Proficient with ERP systems and able to interpret technical documentation. Demonstrated experience in process improvement and technical leadership.Desirable for Production Engineer: Knowledge of 8D, PFMEA, lean manufacturing tools, and poka-yoke principles.
