The Vacancy
This is a temporary / fixed-term post for up to 9 months.
North Lincolnshire has woodland cover of just 6.3%, which is significantly lower than the average across England. In response to climate and biodiversity emergencies, North Lincolnshire Council has committed to planting 250,000 trees to increase woodland cover.
The Council seeks a self-motivated, committed, and organized individual, eager to develop skills in woodland creation, to join its multidisciplinary Natural and Historic Environment Team. The role involves coordinating woodland creation projects on land around North Lincolnshire, ensuring the right trees are planted in the right places.
You will act as an advocate for woodland creation within the Council and engage positively with landowners, external partners, and the public to build effective relationships and teamwork. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Applicants should ideally have a Higher National Diploma or relevant qualification in land management, countryside disciplines, or related fields, along with a full driving license or the ability to travel around North Lincolnshire. Experience in woodland creation is welcome, but recent qualifications and proven project management skills in other fields will also be considered.
Priority will be given to candidates with understanding of the forestry sector and lowland England’s key habitats and species.
Benefits include:
• A competitive salary
• A comprehensive induction
• Training from the Forestry Commission and other providers
• Generous annual leave
• Salary sacrifice scheme
• Agile working arrangements
Please refer to the attached job description and employee specification when completing your application to demonstrate your suitability for the role.
