Senior Payroll Manager Location: Halifax Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 Hybrid / Flexible working available Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting for a Senior Payroll Manager position on behalf of a high-growth business based in Halifax. The role on offer allows full ownership of a complex payroll function, blending technical expertise with strategic influence, operational leadership, and a continuous improvement mindset. You will oversee the seamless, accurate, and timely delivery of monthly payrolls, bonus cycles, and statutory submissions, while driving payroll excellence during an exciting period of growth and change. Managing a small team, you will have full autonomy to implement smarter ways of working and improve efficiencies across the payroll function. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations across multiple entities, stepping in to support the team as required. Ensure full legislative compliance, accurate statutory reporting, and timely HMRC submissions. Drive process optimisation, identifying and implementing more efficient and scalable payroll workflows. Manage and develop a small, capable team of Payroll Administrators, ensuring high performance and quality delivery. Act as a trusted partner to Senior Leadership, HR, Finance, and Operations, providing clear insights and supporting business-critical initiatives. Continuously enhance processes through the introduction of new payroll efficiencies. Support system upgrades, integrations, acquisitions, TUPE transfers, and wider organisational change programmes. About You Proven Payroll Manager experience running complex, multi-entity payrolls within a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels and lead payroll transformation. A people-oriented leader who can mentor, motivate, and develop a small team. Strong systems capability, ideally with experience across multiple payroll platforms Exposure to M&A processes, integrations, and TUPE transfers (desirable).
