EQUANS is looking for an Electrical Shift Engineer to join our team in Salford for our Media City contract. This is a permanent full‑time role working a shift pattern of 4‑on, 4‑off – 4 shifts 07:00–19:00 followed by 4 days off. The role comes with a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
EQUANS is recruiting an Electrical Engineer to join our existing team on the Media City Contract. The role is a permanent full‑time position working Monday to Friday. The primary responsibility is all‑round engineering support for the building infrastructure, maintaining detailed knowledge of all building services systems, contingency procedures and compliance with health & safety and building codes of practice.
The Electrical Engineer acts as a coordination point for day‑to‑day activities on site between themselves and the FM management team, ensuring that all tasks allocated to the shift are carried out professionally with a focus on quality, health & safety and maintaining 100 % uptime criteria. They provide excellent response to plant failures, complete assigned work, manage abnormal operating conditions and house‑keeping issues, oversee shift activity during night shifts and subcontractors, and report difficulties to the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
Daily record‑keeping and escalation procedures are completed, and the engineer participates in out‑of‑hours call‑outs, overtime and site coverage. They are responsible for risk assessments, method statements, and managing subcontractors, with all PPE, uniform, tools and specialised tools supplied by EQUANS.
Impact
This role is client‑forward facing, requiring good experience and excellent communication skills to ensure all operational and contractual obligations are adhered to, mitigating risk to EQUANS.

The role demands a confident, experienced, and driven individual with strong planning and organisational skills.
Principal Objectives
* Carry out PPM tasks, record and complete related documents
* Respond to reactive callouts on critical systems
* Complete compliance testing and minor works to JSP375 standard
* Perform minor installation works and testing
* Communicate company vision and objectives clearly, ensuring implementation of new procedures
* Promote and drive company values
* Keep up to date with industry developments, driving innovation and effective change
Qualifications or Required Experience
* City and Guilds training
* Strong communication skills
* Good experience of electrical maintenance and repairs
* Previous AP/AE experience and qualifications preferred but not essential
