Job Description [Type here] Role Title Commissioning Engineer ( TP141) Location Site Based -West Ham, London Purpose Maintain strict adherence to safety and relevant industry standards. P erform comprehensive critical & dynamic testing to ensure the systems and equipment are fully functional and ready for operation. verify and validate the Design, Engineering and Install of electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure substation operates effectively. verify protection relays, control systems and communication equipment are functioning under fault conditions. ensure full system integration. identify problems and troubleshoot, work to resolve electrical fault s, incorrect wiring, and equipment malfunctions. complete all test reports and final handover documentation. mitigate risks through testing and analysing to help prevent failures. prepare early warnings and support compensation events. Create programmes and reports for the project teams. As built drawings Oversee formal handover to the client operational team, signing all relevant documentation to confirm all systems are ready for full operation Dimensions Reports to : Assistant Commissioning Manager/ Project Manager Interfaces Internal: Contracts Managers; Senior Projects Managers; Project Managers; Project Teams ; Commissioning Team, Site Manager/ Site Teams External: Client Representatives and Subcontractors Accountabilities T o liaise with the Project Management Team on progress of the job to guarantee activities are coordinated effectively across the project. Work with the relevant supporting functions to ensure equipment and materials are delivered to site in a timely manner Ensure that accidents and near-miss incidents are promptly reported giving accurate d etails established at the time of the incident, assist in investigations when required To ensure Comprehensive documentation of data and reporting requirement s are satisfied within the time frames required by all team member s Ensure safe and reliable operation Ensure system integrity C ompliance with client and regulation standards Risk Management and Fault resolution Quality assurance Manage TQs Programmes and deadlines Client handover Technical accuracy Personal Qualities & Experience (Required) The following qualities/experience are Essential : SSE/SPEN/NG authorisations as required Competent in site installation procedures Attention to detail Troubleshooting skills Works well under pressure in a high pressured environment, resilient and calm Safety conscious mindset Hands on experience in HV Substations 5 years experience on an operational live substation Knowledge of testing protocols Project Management Skills Proficient in software tools CPCS training or similar Ability to work at Heights Able to pro-actively develop and maintain a strong safety culture. Able to identify competencies and skills required to undertake tasks and ensure that personnel are trained and competent to carry this out Strong communication skills to effectively brief team and engage with wider functions at a range of levels of seniority and their Client counterparts Holds a current UK Driving Licence The following qualities/experience are desirable : SSE/SPEN/NG authorisations as required MEWP licence and/or Telehandler/ROTO Experience in Transformers and HV switchgear alignment and installation Degree or equivalent in Electrical engineering IEC68150 Control system integration beneficial Professional experience with relay testing IOSH or NEBOSH Confined Space PASMA ESSW The candidate is likely to have the following: Experience of working in high voltage substations environments Leadership qualities Hands on commissioning experience with our main clients (SSE NG) Multidisciplinary knowledge Flexibility to travel Continuous learning / driven On the job experience
