Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Infection Prevention Nurse/Practitioner to join our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team as a Band 8a Clinical Matron. Based at the RDUH Eastern site in Exeter, the IPC team delivers services across acute, community, and mental health settings, supporting high standards of patient care across Devon.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership for IPC services delivered to Devon Partnership Trust (DPT) through a Service Level Agreement, reporting to the Consultant Nurse / Joint Director for IPC. The role involves visible clinical leadership, management of the IPC team, outbreak support, quality improvement, and the development of innovative education and training programmes. You will deputise for the DPT Director of IPC when required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical leadership, advanced specialist knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams. A comprehensive understanding of national IPC standards, including the Health and Social Care Act 8 Code of Practice, is essential.

You must be flexible, resilient, and committed to your own professional development. A full UK driving licence and access to transport are required, with the need to travel across the DPT footprint, including rural and county-wide services.

Working hours a week across a 7-day service
