We are seeking experienced Head Event Chefs for private events held in a variety of locations, including boats cruising the Boston Harbor. Previous experience working in catering or leading a culinary team is strongly encouraged. The Chef we’re looking for will have a good attitude, a good sense of time management and be comfortable working in and leading a team.
Hours will vary depending on the start time of events each week.
Qualifications
1. Must be respectful of others and adept and respectful delegation of tasks
2. Must be familiar with the Boston area and ideally with driving through Boston
3. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs & stand for long periods of time
4. Must be knowledgeable of common allergens, cooking techniques, and high end execution
5. Must be able to work on a boat at cruising speed or in other non-traditional kitchens
6. Must be flexible and able to adapt as the situation calls for
7. Must be consistently punctual and communicative
Responsibilities:
On a typical day, the chef will arrive at our commissary to pick up the FOH & BOH equipment for the event. The Chef will review the menu with the Head Chef (by phone if necessary) and take our company vehicle to work the event with a catering team of chefs and servers. The Chef will execute the event (most often appetizers, dinner & dessert) and then drive the van back to the commissary at the end of the night. This is a perfect position for someone with open availability that can make and manage their own schedule.
