Job Title: Mechanical Estimator
Location: Maidstone, Kent
Salary: £70K per year
The Role:
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will take ownership of all mechanical estimating activities across the business and play a pivotal role in shaping a modern estimating function.
* Lead mechanical estimating for projects from small works to multi-million-pound packages.
* Conduct detailed take-offs, cost analysis, and tender submissions using drawings, specifications, and site information.
* Review and improve existing pricing processes and implement structured, consistent estimating systems.
* Establish best-practice procedures, cost libraries, templates, and databases.
* Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants across mechanical, electrical, and BMS packages.
* Provide value-engineering options and technical input during tender stages.
* Support business strategy by forecasting, analysing bids, and improving win rates.
* Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth handover of successful bids into delivery.

The Ideal Candidate:
* Significant experience as a Mechanical Estimator within an M&E contracting environment.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, including HVAC, pipework, ductwork, plant, and BMS integration.
* Comfortable working independently as the primary estimator.
* Process-driven mindset with the ability to implement and modernise estimating systems.
* Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of how to build competitive, profitable tenders.
* Strong Excel skills and familiarity with digital estimating tools/databases (or ability to introduce them).
* Confident communicating with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams.
* High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tenders at varying stages.
