Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Mechanical Project Manager based in the Home Counties to oversee the successful delivery of mechanical works across a variety of UK-wide construction and building services projects. This role is ideal for a technically skilled and well-organised individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident leading project teams from start to finish.
Responsibilities
* Project Planning and Execution
o Lead the full lifecycle of mechanical projects from planning through to completion
o Review technical specifications and client requirements to develop accurate scopes, budgets, and timelines
o Coordinate with internal teams to align drawings, procurement, and delivery schedules
o Maintain project programmes and provide regular updates to clients and stakeholders
o Manage project variations, RFIs, and site instructions
* Technical Oversight and Compliance
o Oversee installation and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, and pipework systems to specification and regulation
o Ensure quality control and resolve technical issues with engineers and subcontractors
o Maintain compliance with health & safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company procedures
o Produce and manage technical documentation such as RAMS, O&M manuals, and commissioning records
* Health and Safety
o Prepare and review comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
o Conduct regular site audits, lead safety briefings, and toolbox talks
o Investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented
o Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and liaise with HSE representatives
* Team and Subcontractor Management
o Manage site teams and subcontractors to ensure clear communication and effective delivery
o Conduct site inspections and coordination meetings to monitor progress and address issues early
o Support and mentor junior engineers or supervisors as required
* Client and Stakeholder Communication
o Act as the main point of contact for clients on mechanical aspects of the project
o Provide updates, technical guidance, and issue resolution
o Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal departments to meet overall project goals
* Procurement and Cost Control
o Support the procurement of mechanical materials and subcontractors
o Monitor project budgets and work with the commercial team on valuations and final accounts
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services and relevant regulations
* Proven track record of managing mechanical projects in construction or MEP environments
* Excellent leadership and organisational skills
* Deep understanding of health and safety and regulatory compliance
* Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office; experience with Simpro is an advantage
* High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
* Strong communication skills with a professional approach
* Must be based in the Home Counties and willing to travel to project sites across the UK
