Join to apply for the Consultant in Sports Medicine role at Barts Health NHS Trust
We are looking to recruit a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine on a part-time basis. The successful applicant will work within the well-established MSK Physiotherapy service based at Mile End Hospital.
There will be 2 programmed activities (PAs): 1 PA of direct clinical care and 1 PA for supporting professional activities (including research, audit, admin, teaching, and CPD). As a senior employee of the Trust, you will work closely with and support clinical, medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide safe and high-quality care to patients.
Responsibilities include:
1. Managing a clinical caseload of musculoskeletal patients referred for assessment, triage, and management, including advice, imaging, investigations, injections, and ultrasonography.
2. Supporting ACP Physiotherapists in developing a new ultrasonography point-of-care service for patients with musculoskeletal pathologies.
3. Acting as clinical supervisor for ACP colleagues undergoing ultrasonography training.
4. Serving as a point of contact and liaison with the Sports and Exercise Medicine and Rheumatology teams.
5. Contributing to departmental audit and research initiatives.
6. Participating in relevant in-service training programs.
7. Maintaining trust governance, policies, and guidelines.
