Chief Constables' Message

We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who continuously work selflessly and tirelessly in order to keep people in our counties safe.

We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything that they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person then we want to hear from you.

We wish you all the very best with your application.

Chief Constable Tim De Meyer & Chief Constable Jo Shiner

The Role & Key Responsibilities

"Training is a very busy and challenging yet rewarding role like no other position in Surrey Police. You will be well supported to not only develop new officers but also yourself which is refreshing to say the least!

Coming into L&PD from an operational role was a big adjustment having been out of education for 20 years myself. Like every other officer who comes into this team I thought that I couldn’t possibly know enough to teach someone else! You’ll be surprised how quickly things come back to you.

For me, one of the main draws was the opportunity to gain some formal qualifications that help in my day to day role and will also help me in the future. Gaining these has put me right out of my comfort zone at times, but that’s a good thing I guess!

Although it shouldn’t be the only consideration when applying for this role, there’s no denying that the work/life balance is vastly improved. Joining L&PD has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made both on a professional and personal level. I’m more than happy to have an informal chat with anyone who want’s a warts and all view on the role 😊" PC WHITESIDE

Additionally, the Applicant will ideally possess a Level 3 training qualification e.g. Education & Training Award or be willing to work towards and achieve this requirement within the first 6 months of appointment. Throughout this development phase you will be fully supported by the Foundation L&PD Team.
