Position: Business Consultant (SO)
Pay Rate: £19.59 per hour
Hours: Full time 9 – 5pm Mon to Fri
Duration: 4/10/26 with possibility of extension

Location: Ballykelly
The NICS hybrid working policy will apply. Travel to other locations across Northern Ireland will be required.
Job Duties:
The main duties and responsibilities are: • Contribute to the development of business cases to support the advancement of rural policy proposals towards implementation and operational delivery. • Provide support to organisational planning work to help define future structural requirements within the Rural Affairs Division, ensuring continued delivery of business-as-usual activities alongside new policy implementation. • Assist in identifying resource (staff)requirements and associated costs to inform future planning. • Support the delivery of policy objectives through effective project and/or programme support. • Contribute to the work of the team by ensuring tasks are completed in line with agreed processes, governance arrangements and departmental standards. • Provide support to team members and contribute to a collaborative working environment focused on achieving business objectives. The emphasis on particular duties may vary over time according to business needs and the post-holder may be required to carry out other duties consistent with the grade as allocated by management.Essential Criteria:
The post-holder must demonstrate:
• Experience of contributing to business cases and providing support to project and/or programme delivery.
• Report Writing – Ability to present information clearly and concisely in written form for a range of audiences, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail, often within tight timescales.
• Communication – Ability to engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, gather information from a range of sources and contribute constructively to discussions and decision-making processes.
• Teamworking – Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver a well-organised and quality service, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared goals.
• Delivery Focus – Ability to manage own workload effectively, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
• Interpersonal Skills – Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Initiative – Ability to work on own initiative within defined parameters, applying guidance and escalating issues where appropriate in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Degree with 12 months experience.
Desired Criteria:
• Experience of the utilising the Five Case Model as per Better Businesses Case NI Guidance.
