Overview of the Role
As a Senior IAM Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing transformation of our Identity & Access Management services as we migrate from Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) to Entra ID. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and operational support of cloud‑first IAM services, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable identity solutions for the university. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, enhance service quality, drive automation, and continuously improve our IAM capabilities to meet evolving business and security needs.
Core Responsibilities
* Contribute and support the migration from MIM to Microsoft Entra ID
* Own and operate IAM services within Entra ID and hybrid environments
* Manage support queues and meet SLAs for incidents and service requests
* Monitor and respond to identity‑related security events using Microsoft Defender, Entra ID risk signals, and audit logs
* Design, implement, and manage SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
* Automate IAM processes with PowerShell, Graph, and workflow orchestration tools
* Maintain and troubleshoot AD, DNS, and directory synchronization services
* Integrate apps using modern authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC)
* Apply Zero Trust and least privilege principles across identity services
* Enhance IAM resilience threat protection using modern identity security features
* Partner with stakeholders to deliver secure and user‑centric identity solutions
Ideal Candidate
* Empathy, kindness, and a commitment to supporting colleagues and users
* Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Identity platforms, especially Entra ID
* Hands‑on experience with IAM migrations or modernization projects
* Strong understanding of modern authentication and access control models
* Proven ability to design, implement, and operate identity lifecycle and role‑based access solutions
* Knowledge of Zero Trust, hybrid identity, and identity governance
* Ability to analyse security signals and drive remediation
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics for non‑technical audiences
