Sous Chef – Bath Salary up to £29,733 depending on experience 40hrs per week, on a rota basis, weekend shifts required every other week. Must drive and have access to a car to travel between two private school sites 9.6 weeks time off per year About the Role We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef, also known as a Catering Sous Chef or Second Chef, to join a busy private school kitchen. This role offers a stable routine with straight shifts and alternate weekends off, ideal for someone wanting to step away from late nights while continuing to grow their skills. You will produce high-quality, modern British cuisine and occasionally travel between two nearby sites as part of the rota. What You Will Do • Support the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations as a Sous Chef • Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes consistently • Assist in planning balanced, seasonal menus • Ensure all food meets dietary and allergen requirements • Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff during service • Manage stock, reduce waste, and assist with ordering • Travel between two private school sites as required Who We Are Looking For • Experienced Sous Chef, Catering Sous Chef, or Second Chef confident in a busy, high-volume kitchen • Strong cooking skills with an organised approach to service • Team-minded and able to guide and support junior staff • Knowledgeable in food safety, hygiene, and kitchen standards • A driver with access to a car for travel between the two sites Who This May Suit This role is ideal for someone currently working as a Sous Chef in private school catering, contract catering, or hospitality who is seeking more balance and a stable schedule.
