The role requires the abilities of a highly organised, procedure focused, and motivated individual to join our Laboratory team. As a Quality Control Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of our products. You will work closely with development chemists and the production team to retrieve and test raw material and production samples.

Working as part of the laboratory team to ensure products are tested and reported efficiently. Ensuring tests are conducted in an effective way to check samples and enable production to produce a range of powder and liquid products to the required specifications. This role offers a level of flexibility, covering a variety of tests; including the testing of raw materials, bought in products and finished goods.


Main Duties

* Test incoming raw materials to ensure they are within specification.
* Tie supplier certificates of analysis to deliveries of raw materials.
* Organising and conducting pre-production tests prior to the production of certain products.
* Ensure the testing stations are prepared and organised with the relevant raw materials required to conduct pre-production tests in accordance with the daily production plan.
* Testing both powder and liquid finished products to identify and troubleshoot any issues on production or within a formulation.
* Liaising with development chemists and production supervisors to communicate results of quality control testing.
* Liaise with R+D Manager and development chemists to make decisions regarding formulations and problems.
* Assist in resolving any issues related to out of specification products or raw materials.
* Working with production to retrieve finished product and raw material samples for approval as needed.
* Closely following a procedure to ensure all testing is conducted inline with standard operating procedures.
* Complete all test records accurately and on time.
* Liaise with R+D Manager and technical team to test any product queries.
* Work closely with the R+D Manager to provide an excellent quality control function to support production, technical, and all stakeholders, whilst being proactive to foresee potential inefficiencies and challenges.
* Attention to detail to ensure tests are conducted accurately and without mistakes.
* Identify opportunities for improvements in laboratory processes and suggest initiatives to enhance efficiency.
* Ensuring the workplace is clean and adheres to the house keeping standards.
* Break cover will be required to ensure the accounts department runs continuously.
* Flexibility to work cross functionally in accordance with business needs.


Responsibilities

* Contribute to the effective and efficient operational needs of Kelmore quality control function.
* Ensure that quality control requirements are met for all raw materials and finished products.
* Deliver excellent attention to detail to ensure consistency of Kelmore products.
* Collaborate with other Kelmore departments to ensure the business operates as efficiently as possible.
* A leading by example approach to the Company’s Health & Safety policy, wearing company uniform and appropriate PPE when required.
* Buy-in to the Kelmore culture of teamwork, togetherness, caring and supporting colleagues in a hardworking and rewarding environment at work.
* Excel in maintaining a clean, organised, safe and efficient work environment in line with Kelmore’s quality standards.
* Vigilance in monitoring quality and procedures and offering guidance where quality issues and challenges are identified.
* To demonstrate clear and proactive communication skills.
* Support the training and development of others as needed.
* Understand and comply with all company procedures relevant to you and your duties including standard operating procedures, fire and evacuation procedures, first aid, environmental policy and COSHH.


Requirements

* Previous QC experience is essential to this role.
* Maths, English and Science based GCSEs grade 5 or above.
* Confidence with using Microsoft Excel.
* A science based A-Level or equivalent would be desirable.
