Mechanical Design Engineer – TipTopJob
Our client designs and manufactures bespoke machinery in Devon. We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.
Salary: GBP 35,000 – 42,000 (depending on experience). Type: Permanent.
Key Attributes
* At least 2 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
* Experience with machinery design, hydraulics, sheet metal and precision components
* Strong 3D CAD skills – Inventor or SolidWorks preferably
* Strong practical skills – hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing and prototyping
* Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / ONC qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering
* Experience designing products from concept to production
* Ability to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
* Ability to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
* Innovative, accurate and passionate about design
* Technically minded with a head for problem solving
* Excellent leadership and organisational skills
* Ability to work well individually as well as part of a team
Key Responsibilities
* Use CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
* Use Inventor software for day‑to‑day design work
* Be responsible for research, hand calculations, FEA, testing and prototyping
* Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to production
* Create models and prototypes
* Liaise with clients and develop solutions for design specifications
* Collaborate with different departments to ensure smooth project delivery
* Maintain technical drawings and documentation
* Provide technical guidance and support
* Support product testing, verification and validation
* Support more junior members of the team
