Job Title: Accounts Assistant Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne Salary: Competitive Bonus Hours: Mon–Thurs: 08:30–17:00 / Fri: 08:30–13:00 Location: Onsite, Newcastle office Benefits: * Early Friday finish * Opportunities for professional growth and training * Supportive and collaborative finance team * Pension Job Description: As an Accounts Assistant, you will: * Play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions to support timely management reporting. * You’ll work across various finance areas, from accounts receivable and payable to VAT and audit support, while also contributing to process improvement and automation initiatives. Key Responsibilities: * Manage AR invoicing and credit control activities. * Process supplier invoices, resolve queries, and prepare payment runs. * Support monthly balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting. * Prepare quarterly VAT returns for review and submission. * Assist with internal and external audits through data gathering and validation. * Reconcile and post company credit card expenses. * Maintain and improve records management, exploring opportunities to digitise processes. * Support financial close activities, including fixed assets, leases, and inventory. * Provide ad hoc financial support to the wider finance team. * Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives. Skills & Experience: * Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar finance role. * Strong knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger processes. * Experience with ERP systems and an interest in automation or process improvement. * Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. * Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other finance-related software.
