Delivery Manager (Defence Sector) – Kainos
Kainos is seeking an experienced Delivery Manager for its Defence Sector operations in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom.

Responsibilities
* Ensure that Kainos’s innovative digital services and platforms meet user needs and agreed outcomes with clients, maintaining good governance and quality standards.
* Empower and support Kainos teams to perform well, learn, and grow in alignment with the company’s values.
* Leverage successful delivery and strong client relationships to explore opportunities for follow‑on business.
* Maintain appropriate project governance and technical quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
* Effectively manage project risks and issues, escalating when appropriate.
* Ensure compliance with confidentiality, non‑disclosure policies, and information security.
* Understand critical success factors beyond traditional metrics and ensure each workstream has a plan to achieve them.
* Drive profitability, accurate forecasting, and timely reporting of project financials.
* Identify and exploit opportunities for adding value to the client.
* Motivate and empower teams, fostering a positive and creative culture.
* Oversee staff performance, development objectives, staffing, and onboarding.
* Build collaborative relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Support sales, account leads, and account management teams to position Kainos for profitable new business.
* Promote successes through case studies, awards, blogs, and social media.
* Understand contracts and commercial terms, ensuring compliance.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and align with technology, experience design, and consulting capabilities.
* Encourage innovation in technology and process.
* Assist with recruitment activities to enable stable organisational growth.
Minimum Requirements
* Active security clearance is mandatory.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role with UK defence sector organisations.
* Minimum 3 years of demonstrable success delivering bespoke software projects from scratch, using agile methodology for external customers.
* Experience staffing, allocating, and pricing software development scrum teams capable of delivering large‑scale defence projects.
* Strong managerial skills, both direct and indirect.
* Experience leading strategic customer relations with technical teams and senior leadership in the defence sector.
* Commercial awareness and experience managing finances, reporting costs, and monitoring budgets of £5M or more.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Highly flexible, including willingness to work away from the home base.
Desirable
* Experience in user research, analytics, and design disciplines and their contribution to digital services delivery.
* Evidence of securing significant follow‑on business with existing clients.
* Current recognised project or programme management certification.
* Experience delivering digital transformation projects and innovating leadership practices.
