The Role Are you looking to begin your career in Environmental Sciences? We are seeking a well organised Logistics Technician to join our water testing laboratory team in Wakefield. This role involves completing a range of tasks within the logistics department to ensure the effective and efficient receipt, registration, and storage of samples into the business. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, be able to follow instructions closely, and thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in environmental testing, working to high-quality standards and supporting a team that plays a vital role in water quality monitoring. About the Position Hours Per Week: 37 Days Per Week: Monday-Friday with weekends on a rotational basis (some combination of 0600-1400, 1200-2000 or 1400-2200) Contract: Full Time and Permanent Annual Salary: From £24,242 The day to day Register and prepare incoming samples promptly and accurately Pack sample containers for distribution to customers Rotate sample bottles and dispose of them appropriately after analysis Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised workstation always Process returned items or laboratory waste for recycling or disposal Comply with ISO 17025 standards and the company’s quality management system The Essentials Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (or Grade 4) or above, including Science, Maths, and English IT skills including Excel, Outlook, and the ability to learn in-house software Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively Strong teamworking skills and ability to support colleagues Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, including correct use of PPE and safe manual handling techniques Report any near-misses or incidents promptly and follow correct storage and safety procedures Our benefits include: Annual Leave commencing at 25 days (rising to 30) plus 8 public holidays (pro rata for part time) Ability to Buy annual leave.
