ChapelAllerton Pharmacy department is looking for a motivated, enthusiasticPharmacy Services Assistant to join the friendly, sociable team.

Thesuccessful candidate will undertake a NVQ level 2 qualification whilsttraining on the job over 12 - 15 month period. On completion of thisqualification, the candidate will then be able to apply to progress to aSenior Pharmacy Services Assistant should they wish to do so.

Fulltraining will be given in labelling and dispensing of medicines, ordering andstock maintenance, reception duties and supporting inpatient work on thewards and in theatres.

Ourpharmacy department is friendly and supportive and we will fully support thesuccessful candidate.


Main duties of the job

Trainto become a Senior Pharmacy Services Assistant over a 12-15 month period.Training will include:

Labellingand dispensing medicines for Outpatients and Inpatients following standardoperating procedures including controlled drugs.

Receptionduties.

Ordering,Stock receipt and stock counting.

Supportingthe work on the wards including ward top ups using Omnicell robots, patientlocker checks putting ward stock away.

Deliveringmedication to wards.

Job responsibilities

Trainto be a Pharmacy Services Assistant over a 12-15 month period. undertaking aGPhC accredited Level 2 qualification.

Toperform a variety of support duties within the medicines supply chain. Theseinclude stock receipt, stock counting & ordering (top-ups), medicinesorder assembly, and distribution.Stock control procedures and stocktaking.

Thereare no line management responsibilities.All duties are performed working to procedures, mostly under directsupervision. The jobholder will workas a member of a team of Support Workers. Although duties are generallyrostered across the team, there may be changes in response to urgent demand,service cover etc.

Thepost holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays ona rotational basis.

Working to relevant SOPs andundertaking a GPhC accredited Level 2 qualification

Required to work in dispensaries,stores, aseptic units and on wards/clinical areas

Receipt of consignments fromsuppliers, including checking and booking into the Pharmacy Computer System.Prompt reporting of discrepancies to the stores supervisor.

Deal with returned goods fromcustomers and process paperwork according to SOPs. Includes processing andre-cycling unused medicines returned from wards.

Carry out routine stock controlprocedures. Ensure stock is locatedunder correct storage conditions and continuous evaluation of stock levels,stock rotation and expiry dates is undertaken.

Perform necessary clerical tasksassociated with the service. These may be manual but more routinely involvekeyboard data entry onto the JAC system.This includes order entry, stock list maintenance & printing,issuing to correct cost centres.

Participate in regular stock-takesaccording to departmental procedures.

Contribute to the ward &department medicines top-up service.

Pick and pack orders fordistribution, under supervision. Packand process materials for sterilization.

Over-labelling of commercial packs.

Deliver medicines to wards anddepartments, ensuring compliance with Trust Medicines Managementpolicies.

Maintenance of work areas and goodhousekeeping in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Operation of specialist equipmente.g. powered stacking equipment, aseptic tray washer, tablet packagingequipment etc

Cleaning aseptic facilities andequipment in accordance with SOPs

Transfer waste (pharmaceutical andhousehold) to the appropriate collection points, according to procedures

Qualifications

* Basic skills level 1 in Maths and English
