Pharmacy Assistant

Job Summary: Whether you are just starting off in your career or you already have experience in Pharmacy, we are looking for bold, enthusiastic candidates to join our Pharmacy team across Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside District Hospital. You will work alongside Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Dispensing Assistants to deliver integrated pharmaceutical care to service users, ensuring safe, appropriate and cost‑effective use of medicines.
Responsibilities
* Receipt, distribution and stock management of medicines to wards and departments.
* Invoicing and other duties supporting the ward‑based Pharmacy service.
* Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, understanding the needs of patients and colleagues.
* Contribute to the Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday roster and occasional late duties until 19:30 Monday‑Friday.
* Support the Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday roster and additional late duties until approximately 19:30 Monday to Friday.
Qualifications & Essential Criteria
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills to Level 2 or equivalent.
* Completed NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, or willing to work towards and complete it within 6 months of commencing the post.
* Strong organisational and time‑management abilities, able to prioritise work to meet service requirements.
* Basic computer and keyboard skills. Ability to use computer stock control systems.
* Good analytical and judgmental skills.
* Willingness to participate in weekend pharmacy service and relevant bank holiday arrangements.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Knowledge and understanding of hospital and pharmacy policy and procedures.
* Experience with computer stock control systems.
* Experience in a similar post.
