Overview
Maintenance Engineer – Bolton, 3 Shift Pattern, £48,000 + Bonus. A leading global automotive supplier specialising in advanced vehicle components and systems for major OEMs worldwide. Our Bolton facility is a key high-volume production site focused on precision assembly and testing systems. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a proactive, skilled tradesperson who thrives in a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing environment. You will maximise equipment uptime, drive continuous improvement, and support world-class production standards.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of high-volume PLC-controlled production equipment
* Planning and performing preventative maintenance on critical assets
* Improvement and modification of assembly/test equipment and transfer systems
* Service and maintenance of electrical and mechanical site services/plant
* Supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment
Experience / Qualifications
* Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC level (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, supported by City & Guilds Part 3 (or similar) and NVQ Level 2 & 3
* Time-served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline
* Significant hands-on experience (minimum 2+ years) in high-volume manufacturing environments
* Proven track record in equipment repair, maintenance, and process improvement
* Experience in fitting, fabrication, and machining is highly advantageous
* Strong background in maintenance and fault-finding on PLC-controlled and robotic high-volume equipment (ideal but not essential)
* Solid experience maintaining and diagnosing faults in hydraulic and pneumatic systems
