Hourly Paid Lecturer in Photography
Please note, this is an hourly paid contract which means that specific days and hours cannot be guaranteed – they are offered on a casual, ad hoc basis to fit the needs of the service and may vary.
Salary: Unqualified: £25,371 – £29,942 per annum (pro rata, hourly paid). Qualified: £32,304 – £49,934 per annum (pro rata, hourly paid).
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturer in Photography to join the creative arts department at Bridgend College. This role involves planning, preparing, and delivering high‑quality practical and theoretical lessons across a range of our FE programmes.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all facets of photography, encompassing expertise in digital workflows (Adobe Creative Suite, digital capture), traditional analogue darkroom processes, and professional studio lighting and practice. You will assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and ensure all curriculum content is relevant and aligns with current industry standards.
Qualifications
Academic: A degree‑level qualification (BA Hons or equivalent) in Photography or a related field.
Experience: Significant, proven industry experience and a recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or equivalent (or willingness to achieve one shortly after appointment). A practising photographer with professional practice is essential.
Skills:
* Knowledge of delivering practical sessions, underpinned by critical and theoretical knowledge.
* Strong awareness and knowledge of digital practices.
* Practising photographer with appropriate professional practice.
