Veritas Education is working on behalf of a highly-regarded, Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' primary school in Romford to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.
This is a full-time role supporting in a Special Educational Needs classroom, working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), including those who are non-verbal.
You'll be joining a warm, inclusive school community that prides itself on its excellent SEN provision and state-of-the-art facilities - including a pool on site!
The Role:
Supporting pupils with Autism in a specialist SEN classroom
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored learning plans
Using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECs, Makaton) to support non-verbal students
Encouraging independence, engagement, and social development
Helping manage behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
Requirements:
Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is essential
Knowledge of Autism and non-verbal communication strategies
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
A proactive and team-focused attitude
Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Able to commit to full-time work, Monday to Friday
